Rupert's Firelocks
Rupert's Firelocks (or Prince Rupert's Lifeguard of Foote) is another identity sometimes assumed by members of the Blewcoats, either in conjunction with the main regiment or as an individual entity. The uniform consists of a red coat rather than the usual blue and a black, broad-brimmed hat. As the name suggests, they are armed with firelocks (more commonly known these days as flintlocks) and carry their ammunition in paper cartridges in a belt pouch. See here for a history of Rupert's Firelocks.
